A Season of Change…

Hello There Design Aficionados!

After a false start to spring in February here in the Northwest Suburbs, I think we have finally gotten here. The sun is shining today. Its energizing me today which is a great thing! I have big plans today.

If you are on Facebook and Instagram you saw my big announcement. I have been a home stager for over 20 years. I have helped countless families get their homes ready for sale in McHenry County and surrounding Chicago suburbs. I developed The Panache Assessment over those many years as a guideline for my clients to follow. Now, Mr. Man and I have decided to launch off too. It is a huge undertaking to pack up 33 years of living in one area (12 years in our first home and now 21 years in our current home). I’m so grateful that I have had this experience of helping others. It has helped me be more objective in my own home. I’ve trained my husband and family in these ways. Now its time to put it into practice.

We put our home up for sale a week ago after a mad rush to get it ready. You see we made this decision very quickly. Our oldest daughter is pregnant with her first child and longing to have her family nearby. Who can’t answer that call?! So with stellar focus and great people around me, I said toss this, sell this, donate that and don’t forget to pack this up, its fragile! We got this house ready to put on the market.

Our market had cooled a bit, however, we don’t have enough homes in Cary, IL . We have a local powerhouse agent, Beth, who priced our home just right. I’m so glad that we had a seasoned agent on our team. There’s so very much to know. After a busy time of the open house and showings, we had multiple offers and over asking! Just what I had trained for and hoped for.

After closing, we pack up our life in a 20 foot trailer in Illinois and head off to the Fort Myers, Florida area. I’m trading friends, an area that I know so well, just a few miles to family— for an adventure as Grandma in a coastal town.

Embracing the design style, Coastal Grandmother, I have started the process of planning the new decor. Like you, we will keep some of our existing furniture and freshen up with new. I must say, I am excited to design a new home. You know that I’m going to start with a ColorPalette+. And yes, I have an inspiration piece. I was at my local design center about a month ago for a client and found this fabric. It had all the colors and organic pattern that make my heart sing. Now keep in mind that when designing your ColorPalette+ its not paint that you are choosing per se. You are creating a guideline for fabrics and textures so that you have a cohesive design. This will be the north star.

Watch here for the journey, I plan on sharing more home decor adventures with you, along with a few pictures of the grandkids. They are so dog gone cute!
