My Favorite Accessory for Staging &Decorating
Hi There, My Design Aficionado!
Home staging can make a huge difference when buyers tour your home. Choosing the “right” accessories is often the detail that make a home memorable to a potential buyer.
One of my most favorite accessory for staging a home to sell is:
You guessed it, plants, I love love love plants. No space is complete without greenery. They bring life to a home, fill large corners and also add color and texture to a space. Plants can make a space look more inviting and comfortable. When you want a little more privacy, place a plant in front of windows. Carefully curated they can offer a layer of elegant styling for your staged property.
Use Real Plants if Possible
Of course, in a perfect world, I would wholeheartedly recommend real plants and flowers. In the real world, not everyone has a green thumb and the thought of adding real plants to your living space can be somewhat intimidating, especially when your home is on the market.
If you need a little less on your plate, use faux plants. I do ask, that they are high quality. Faux plants ought to be new, free of dust and debris and look as real as they can. Be sure to use a variety.
Low-Maintenance Options
Moss Spheres and arrangement offer forever green, organic options. I also favor preserved boxwood topiaries and succulent arrangements.
Often times a large kitchen island will need a statement and branches in a beautiful vase is a great option. Just about every season offers branches that bring an organic touch.
Spring offers several options:
cherry blossoms, quince, pussy willow, forsythia.
Summer:
Dogwo0d
Seeded Eucalyptus
Autumn
Oak branches with acorns
Winter
Cedar branches
Keep Them Understated
I prefer understated foliage and floral and keep to mostly whites, creams and greens. This doesn’t mean that you can’t add beautifully colored plants to your home, but instead, it’s meant to prevent them from detracting from the overall space. You want your plants to highlight areas or design features without being so ornate that people only see the plants and not the rest of your home. It’s also important that you don’t fill the house with plants; less is more in this situation. Be sure to stay away from plants with dense foliage as they can make a space feel more crowded or cluttered, a no-no when staging a home to sell.
Bring a touch of organic elegance with plants and make sure your home is looking its best for market!
